About Bennerley House
Bennerley House is our pre-school for children aged three and four years, after school and holiday club (up to the age of eight).
Bennerley House is a newly refurbished premises based on Bennerley Road, just off the Northcote Road, SW11. The new nursery opened in September 2014. Our new premises adjoins our current nursery in the area, Northcote House. The two nurseries are run separately – Northcote House taking our one and two year olds, and Bennerley House taking our three and four year olds - but have the advantage of an adjoining door to share facilities when applicable. Children joining Northcote House are also registered for a place at Bennerley House, and will transfer automatically when at the correct age to do so (generally just before a child’s third birthday).
Bennerley House is located in a lovely building that has a bright open plan space suitable for a variety of activities. This space includes purpose built areas for maths, creative play, construction and literacy amongst other things. The new property also has a separate room for art and messy play activities and a beautiful separate library. We also have a new kitchen and separate eating area with a special low counter perfect for enabling children to serve their own food (great for learning to be independent) and to do cooking activities.
As an Ofsted registered nursery, Bennerley House follows the Early Years Foundation Stage. Like our other nurseries, the nursery will be based on learning through play. We do however take part in some Montessori activities to enable us to provide more structure to the day, particularly in the pre-school year. This will enable the children to feel very well prepared for joining Reception when they leave us.
All children joining Bennerley House are given a nursery smock and book bag. All parents must ensure that they put the smock on their child before leaving them with us at the beginning of a session. Smocks are compulsory and must be clearly named on the front.
Bennerley House runs 51 weeks per year offering:
NB At present, the schools we will be dropping off at/picking up from are Belleville, Honeywell, Thomas's and Dolphin which are all within walking distance.
Included in our fees are a range of extra-curricular activities taught by external teachers. For 2015, this includes dancing (ballet), sport, French and music/drama.
Having worked in previous nurseries in South West London, Shellie began at The Northcote Gardens as a Room Leader of the Penguins in August 2010. Proving she was very competent and excellent at working with children, Shellie was promoted to Nursery Landing Manager initially as maternity cover in 2011. When the maternity cover ended, Shellie moved downstairs to run the Woodland Room as Deputy Manager, before being promoted to Manager in early 2013.
Serving as Manager, Shellie now runs a large team of staff at Northcote House, and is passionate about childcare and providing young children with the best start in life.
